Working in management positions for Firestone, Wal-Mart, and Pizza Hut gave me many years of valuable experience. It also convinced me that I could be successful on my own, away from the tightly regimented corporate retail structures. Franchise ownership seemed like a perfect solution, and the automotive industry in particular appealed to me. After exploring opportunities with some well-known franchisors, including Midas, Meineke, Jiffy Lube, I found Honest-1.

The eco-friendly service was what caught my attention, but the upscale and inviting center environment that clearly appealed to women really convinced me that Honest-1 was different. And when I discovered that the franchise and royalty fees are lower than most others in the category, my decision was made. I opened my first Honest-1 center in October 2007, and I now have a total of four in the Portland, Oregon area. I also plan to open a fifth store in Vancouver, Washington in 2012.

I definitely made the right choice with Honest-1. I've learned a lot from my fellow franchisees, and I've successfully implemented many of the ideas they've shared with me. And while I have to comply with my franchise agreement, I also have enough autonomy to make decisions that are best for my centers. Honest-1 gives me the independence I craved, but also the support I know I need to be successful.

I've been in the automotive industry for a long time, so I've always known how much potential there is for sustained growth with the right business. After working as a district operations manager for Pep Boys and then Big O Tires, I was ready to take control of my own destiny, and looked into franchise ownership. I explored several different companies - including some outside of the automotive category - but Honest-1 felt right from the very beginning. I really liked the customer-oriented focus, and the fact that customers and owners alike were positive about their experience. I signed my first franchise agreement with Honest-1 in 2004, and have since opened a second store. Many of my competitors are closing their doors, and I'm steadily growing in customer traffic. That's proof that I made the right decision, and I plan to continue my growth with Honest-1.
